Welcome

to the home page of the Louisiana-Mississippi Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). Our members, including members from junior colleges, colleges, and universities in our region, have a passionate interest in both mathematics and mathematics education. The mission of the MAA is to advance the understanding of mathematics and its impact on our world. Since its inception in 1924, the Louisiana-Mississippi Section has worked to support this mission. Are you interested in membership and have a mailing address in Louisiana or Mississippi? Once you join the MAA, you have the benefit of being affiliated with this regional section. Institutions can become Partners in the LA-MS Section of the MAA by paying an annual fee to the program chair each year. Funding from these partnerships helps support the section’s student activities. Benefits:

• Free student registrations to the annual spring section meeting

• Table in exhibit area to advertise graduate programs (upon request)

• Recognition in meeting program

Each year, the Louisiana-Mississippi Section selects one person to receive the Distinguished Teaching Award and every five years the Section selects one person to receive the Service Award.
